Sixth Form

The RGS 360 Award

At RGS, we are proud that our Sixth Formers leave our school as well-rounded, well-educated individuals with a wealth of experience and knowledge. We have every confidence that these young men will make a valuable contribution to society, finding success and fulfilment throughout their lives.

We strongly encourage all of our students to cultivate a comprehensive personal profile that demonstrates more than just academic prowess. To support them, we provide an extensive range of regular co-curricular activities as well as opportunities to provide service leadership within school or volunteer within our local community.

To provide focus for this process, we have the RGS 360 Award which monitors each student’s involvement in the co-curricular programme, engagement in volunteering and participation in leadership activities both inside and outside of school. The co-curricular element of the award can be achieved by a sustained commitment and long-term involvement in one of over 70 different clubs or societies.

To achieve the volunteering criteria, we provide many opportunities for our Sixth Formers to get involved. All of our Year 12 students are invited to enrol in our mentoring scheme and can also get involved with the precinct team, who ensure the smooth running of the school, at break and lunchtimes. There are also opportunities to enrol in schemes outside of school such as the Primary School Project as well as with various organisations that require volunteers to function effectively.

In Year 13, we extend the opportunities available by inviting our most senior students to take up leadership within school as prefects. These young men can serve on our Senior Prefect Team or be appointed to a role as a Head of House, a Subject Ambassador or a Junior School prefect.

By the end of Sixth Form, all students who have been able to demonstrate a long-term commitment to their all-round education will receive a Gold Award certificate, which they can reference on their UCAS Personal Statements.
