Supporting the Future of RGS
For over 450 years RGS has provided its pupils with an outstanding education, combining centuries of tradition with the best of modern educational practice. RGS boys consistently achieve exceptional public examination results and the breadth of co-curricular opportunity offered here is unparalleled in the state sector.
As with all state-funded schools, the financial situation for RGS is challenging. The School receives the majority of its income from the Department for Education but this is insufficient to meet expenditure and a shortfall of approximately £300,000 is incurred every year. RGS must meet this shortfall.
About 70% is raised through commercial activities, including the provision of Easter revision courses, the school shop and letting RGS facilities to third parties. The remainder is raised solely from the generosity of individuals, like you, whose financial contributions, along with the associated gift aid, ensure RGS continues to offer an outstanding education.

The Annual Fund contributes to all subjects, sports and activities, supporting their budgets and the projects that your sons benefit from.:
- Minibus fuel to take the boys to and from all off-site activities

- ICT maintenance and equipment
- Crumble Kits for Design & Technology
Following year-on-year government budget cuts to education, we have had to make significant reductions in school expenditure. Over 80% of our government income is spent on salaries for staff as well as everyday running costs. To ensure that government income cuts do not impact the education we offer our boys, we rely on your support.
How can you help?
Just £25 per month, per pupil, would raise £72,000 with Gift Aid for the year group. This level of funding would ensure all departments and activities could continue into the future.
