Together our mission is to develop and to become worldly-wise, self-assured, high-achievers through an exceptional all-round education
Our vision is to be seen as world-class through offering those most naturally able, irrespective of their background, the best all round education offered by a UK state school
The Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe (or RGS for short) is a selective day and boarding grammar school for boys aged 11-18 situated in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. We became an Academy in February 2011. As a state school we do not charge fees for day students to attend, but they must pass an entrance exam, the Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools Secondary Transfer Test (known colloquiallyas the 11+). Fees apply for boarding, although the education remains state-funded.
Our facilities are exceptional and the Oxbridge entry is in the vanguard of the state sector. For the last twenty years, the school has produced top class exam results, both at GCSE and A-level, surpassing many of its fee-paying competitors.
Established by Royal Charter in 1562 (though originally established as a school in 1550), it is situated on Amersham Hill, in a pleasant residential area, a short walk from the station.
You can find out more about us, including performance tables and year on year comparisons by visiting the Department for Education's website or by searching for the school using our unique reference number 136484.
Please be aware that as RGS boys have, in recent years, been studying for IGCSE in some subjects, our Progress 8 score does not give a true picture. Please refer to our Examination Results page for further information.
