Year 7 World Challenge Trip to Buxton

Full CalendarYear 7Trips

This event will take place on 21/06/2019 until 23/06/2019

We are delighted to be launching our annual 3-day Multi Activity Residential Expedition to Buxton, Derbyshire. This has now been running for over 19 years and is a brilliant introduction to the fantastic expedition opportunities at RGS. The aim of the 3 days is to give our pupils the chance to work with each other in an informal environment, further develop communication and leadership skills, increase self-esteem and motivation and improve their self-determination. It will also provide a fantastic experience for pupils to stretch themselves, develop and have fun while making friends outside their immediate peer group. The activities will include raft building and rafting, bush craft, trekking, weaseling (climbing, scrambling, rock hopping, bouldering etc.) as well as other team building activities. The provider Outdoor Genius is Adventure Activities Licensing Authority licensed which means they are able to provide all of the above activities. They use highly qualified experienced and approved Leaders, who will be responsible for safety as well as skills development.

If you wish your son to take part in the trip, please log onto ParentPay, look up the “Buxton Year 7 Trip” and pay the first instalment of £110 by 1st February and the second instalment of £100 by 1st April. If you are unable to pay online, please contact the Finance Office promptly to pay by an alternative method. Please note, there are unlimited places for this trip as it is such a popular option for Year 7. However, if your son does not wish to take part, we will endeavour to organise an alternative local trip or activities on Friday 21st June. Finally, I would like to invite you to a Parents’ Information Evening on Wednesday 22nd May 2019 at 6pm in the Upper Library to run through all the pre-expedition administration and answer any questions you may have. As usual, please inform the School of any changes to the medical condition of your son and any changes to emergency contact numbers before the trip departs.

Please contact Mr C Greenhough if you have any questions regarding the visit.
