Music

During my time at RGS, I have been very lucky to be involved with the many aspects of the music department. I have been able to participate in many jazz and wind groups such as The Swing Band, The First Wind Band and the Trad Jazz bands. RGS Music also offers many opportunities for singers. The RGS choir sing in the Carol service as well as an annual choir trip to Oxford University, both of which both are highlights of the calendar for me! I am currently studying music GCSE, which I have thoroughly enjoyed as it has given my chance to compose my own music as well as improve my solo playing. The RGS music teachers are able to make lessons fun and engaging. Students are also given the chance to work with others at the Annual House Music Competition, my favourite event in the music calendar as it brings out the competitive side of each house during a great afternoon of music and entertainment. All of these reasons make the music department a very friendly part of the school.
