The 1562 Society at the RGS High Wycombe
1562 is an important year in the history of RGS High Wycombe. It is the year in which Queen Elizabeth I granted the School a Royal Charter. Five centuries later, much of RGS has altered beyond recognition. But what remains unchanged is the School’s distinctive ethos, grounded in the enduring values reflected in its Elizabethan foundation. RGS High Wycombe remains committed to building on its rich heritage, and, in so doing, to further develop its reputation as one of the finest state selective schools in the UK.
The 1562 Society was established to thank and recognise individuals within the RGS High Wycombe community who share this dedication and commitment to the School. Individuals are recognised for demonstrating significant support for RGS through the giving of their time, resources or expertise.
For our financial supporters this means donating £15,620 or more in a given academic year to any one of our fundraising programmes. These include the RGS Annual Fund, one of our ‘Friends of’ groups or a standalone fundraising campaign for a specific project within the School. Membership of the 1562 Society is limited to 100 individuals per year.
