About

Friends of Rugby (FRoRGS)

On behalf of the Friends of Rugby committee, welcome to the 2019/20 season. We have a full fixture list to look forward to this season and, in addition, the Rugby World Cup is starting soon!

The season got off to a great start last Saturday with the (now) annual pre-season games against Seaford College - 5 teams, 5 wins, some great rugby and great food from Noodle Nation. The season proper started on 7 September with a new fixture for us, Reading Blue Coats School.  This weekend we have fixtures against Millfield. Please make every effort to come down and support the boys.

Gym update - the gym extension which FRoRGS are partly funding is in the final stages of completion and will hopefully be completed by the end of September. It will provide a great performance centre for the boys and also have the benefit of onsite physio care. Although a capital cost to FRoRGS, the arrangements in place remove our annual physio costs, saving FRoRGS about £5,000 a year. For those who still have not bought a brick but would like to, please click here. £50 for a two line message, £100 for a four line message.

Annual subs - many thanks to all of those who donate subscriptions to the rugby section at RGS. Annual subs are the second biggest revenue stream for FRoRGS after the Sportsman's Dinner and are essential to the rugby programme. I know many of you donate by monthly direct debit but here's a gentle reminder to those who make annual payments or haven't paid subs previously - click below.

If you have any issues or suggestions, feel free to go through your year group rep or to contact me. This season we have a new committee email - rgshwfrorgs@gmail.com. We are looking for an additional Y7 rep and any offers of help at any time are appreciated (one of the easiest is to offer help at post match teas so it is not the same people always serving and clearing up!

That's it from me, so all the best for the new season and the new school year!
