At GCSE, our students scored 72.3% 9-7 grades (equivalent to A*/A grades in the old grading system), almost ten per cent higher than in 2017. In addition, 100% of the boys obtained at least five 9-4 grades including English and Maths (equivalent to A*-C).
In the new 9-1 performance measures, 60% of our boys gained at least one of the new grade 9s, which is equal to a top A* in the old grading system. Eight boys accomplished a clean sweep of grade 9s – a remarkable achievement given the relatively low number of grade 9s awarded nationally.
Many of our departments produced remarkable top-end results, far outstripping the national rate for the new grade 9.
- In the three sciences, for example, 37.2% of grades were 9 (compared with a national rate of 12.3%)
- In Maths, 35.4% of our boys scored a 9 (compared with a national rate of 2.9%)
- In Spanish, 38.2% of our boys scored a 9 (compared with a national rate of 6.9%)
A Level Overview
At A Level, 74.3% of results were graded A*-B, with 48.1% being A*-A. The overall pass rate was just short of 100%. 49 students (26% of the year-group) achieved a clean sweep of A* and A grades. Thirteen of our students gained 3 A* grades or more, and XX gained places to study at Oxford or Cambridge.
