School Life

Rugby

RGS High Wycombe has a strong rugby tradition, dating back to 1919. At RGS, we strive to create an engaging and challenging environment so that every pupil, regardless of experience or perceived ability, can realise their potential with a love of the game which lasts a lifetime. We promote the core values of the game as we believe the skills developed can cross over into many other parts of a students life.

RGS has produced numerous schoolboy internationals over the years, with many going on to play first class rugby and gain international representation. RGS boasts a highly competitive fixture list, coming up against schools such as Millfield, Brighton College and Whitgift throughout the course of the year. RGS has historically entered the Natwest Cup at both U15 & U18 level, as well St. Joseph’s Festival and Sedbergh 10’s at U18’s. The school has won the Natwest Cup three times over the years. Rugby is played at RGS through the Autumn and Spring terms, both at XV’s as well as entering 7’s competitions for all age groups. The school puts out up to 20 teams on Saturday’s, with the U12’s running A-F teams against certain schools..

Coaching Philosophy: 'We strive to create an environment that allows every player to maximise their potential on and off the field.'

Playing Philosophy: 'Speed of thought, speed of play.'
