About Flight Lieutenant Will Cambridge

Will, 37, joined the RAF in 2006 to commence Initial Officer Training. Prior to this, Will was a member of the Oxford University Air Squadron for three years.

Following flying training on the Tutor, Tucano and Hawk, he was selected to fly the Tornado GR4. On completion of conversion to the GR4, Will was posted to IX(B) Squadron at RAF Marham. During his three-year tour he took part in a number of varied detachments, ranging from Gibraltar to Arizona.

Will finished his time on the GR4 and was posted to the Typhoon in 2014. He joined to 3(F) Squadron, RAF Coningsby, from the Operational Conversion Unit and benefitted from a busy period for the Typhoon Force. His duties included Quick Reaction Alert in the UK and the Falkland Islands, NATO air policing duties in the Baltic region and Exercises in Las Vegas and the UAE.

In 2018 Will was posted to instruct Typhoon pilots on the Typhoon Conversion Unit, 29 Squadron at RAF Coningsby. This was a role he enjoyed for 18 months before being selected for the Red Arrows in 2019.

The 2021 season will be his second year as Red 2.
