A Lasting Legacy

AN OUTSTANDING EDUCATION FOSTERS MORE THAN JUST ACADEMIC TALENT For almost six centuries, RGS High Wycombe has provided an outstanding education to bright and hard-working young men, providing the strong foundations for a fulfilling life. An RGS High Wycombe education does more than advance academic skills; it builds character and changes lives for the better. Old Wycombiensians will be aware of the School’s enduring achievement to provide the broadest education possible to equip boys for the opportunities in an ever-changing world. What they may not realise is the extent to which the funding mechanism of the RGS has altered in its relatively recent history. Until 2011 the school was funded almost entirely by the local authority. Since becoming an Academy in that year, the School’s revenue has been sourced from the Department of Education grant, commercial opportunities, and fundraising. Essentially pupil funding from the Government pays for the running of the School with the need to improve the fabric of the School reliant upon the School’s own resources. “ The current site on Amersham Hill opened in 1915 with provision for 200 boys, quickly becoming oversubscribed. New buildings have been added over the last century and the School now educates over 1,400 day boys and boarders. MAKE YOUR MARK | HELP THEM MAKE THEIRS
