CBI Director addresses Sixth Form
The programme of speakers for the Sixth Form Lectures continued this week with a visit from Mr Nigel Bourne, the Director of the CBI London.
Nigel Bourne
The CBI is the premier lobbying organisation for UK business on national and international issues. Mr Bourne described the role of the CBI, and their work with the UK government, international legislators and policy-makers in order to help UK businesses compete effectively.
Mr Bourne also talked about the various pressures on UK and world business, including the global credit crisis and climate change. He then fielded a number of questions from the packed Upper Library, including the role of Sir Stuart Rose at M&S, the UK in Europe, and the implications of the Chancellor's recent Budget.
Next week Graham Sheffield, the Director of the Barbican Centre, London, will be our speaker.
