Yr 12 and 13 Extended Learning

Villiers Educational Trust

The main focus for year 12 and 13 pupils are Villiers Park Educational Trust Courses. These courses are run throughout the year and are based mainly in Cambridge. Each course is run on a one week residential basis. In order to apply for a course pupils can visit their website and browse the courses on offer. If a suitable course can be found, and at a suitable time (taking into consideration coursework deadlines, school and external exam periods) the boys can download the form, fill it in and bring it to me. Once this is done I will meet the boys form tutor and/or head of year to ensure that he is suitable for the course and to give permission to miss school for a week. The form will be sent away and you will be informed directly as to whether your son has a place on the course. (Courses are very popular, only one pupil from each school may attend each course) It is important to look at the deadline for registration for each course.

Villiers Park is renowned for its warm welcome, superb food and relaxing atmosphere - all helping to provide a tremendous experience for participants.
By the end of the course students will have:
o gained insight into a wide range of exciting topics beyond the AS/A2 level specification, including some that would be covered at degree level
o been challenged to work towards the limits of their ability with a small group of like-minded students in a non-competitive environment
o experienced approaches that allow them to be actively involved through workshops, group discussions and presentations

There is a fee for each course which parents will be expected to pay, most courses with residential accommodation and food included are £190. The school will invoice parents once your place has been confirmed.

 Why take these courses?

  • Pupils who are academically very able are best suited to these courses and should have a real interest in the course content
  • Pupils applying to traditional universities or to read medicine may wish to complete courses to strengthen their UCAS applications.
  • Pupils wishing to further their knowledge in a particular topic of interest, or possibly interested career path
