Dear Parent/Carers
26 November 2007
WARNING - PARKING OUTSIDE THE ROYAL GRAMMAR SCHOOL
Numerous complaints have been received by Police from residents in the area surrounding the school. The complaints are with regard to parking both at the beginning and end of the School day whilst parents/carers drop off and pick up students from School.
Whilst on routine patrols we too have noticed incidents of obstruction of the highway and inconsiderately parked vehicles. We have consulted with the Headmaster on this issue and we will be working together to try and resolve it, making the area safer for the students and other road users during peak times.
This letter has been prepared to raise parents/carers awareness of the issue in order that those involved can rectify the manner in which they park, and drive, prior to it becoming necessary to take Police action against them.
Please give this matter your urgent attention and appreciate that local residents do need and have the right of exit from their driveways at all times. Speed limits, double yellow lines, and keep clear signs must be obeyed, for the benefit of all. Failure to do so can, and will lead to Police prosecution in the form of either a fixed penalty notice or a count appearance.
The Headmaster has also brought it to our attention that whilst school staff have been trying to alleviate the situation to ensure the boys safety, some parents/carers have been verbally and on occasion physically abusive to staff. Under no circumstances will such behaviour be tolerated and could lead to Police prosecution.
