Jazz Evening

Wednesday 8th October, 2008, 7.30pm, Queen’s Hall

An Evening of RGS Jazz - music provided by pupils in various jazz ensembles led by Mr Jay Craig and Mr Richard Bolton both of whom have other lives as professional jazz musicians.  Mr Bolton is also setting up workshops for our musicians during the afternoon, the result of which will be seen in the evening concert.  The briefest of AGMs imaginable will take place during the interval for the RGS Friends of Music to which of course anyone is welcome.

Summer Concert

Wednesday 30th April, 2008, 7.30pm, Queen’s Hall

Featuring the various orchestras, wind bands,  jazz groups and choirs of the school, an abridged version of Pirates of Penzance starring our talented Year 13 musicians, and a chance to say a formal good-bye to this year’s Year 13.

The Open Air Music Gala

Sunday, 6th July, 2008, 6.00pm,The Quadrangle

Featuring the Jazz Band, the First Wind Band, “Singers Limited”, the Parents’ & Friends’ Choir, and a surprise finale! Bring your picnics, deck chairs and rugs, and enjoy a typically English al fresco entertainment!

The Junior Concert

Thursday,10th July, 2008, 7.30pm, Queen’s Hall

Featuring many of the budding musicians in the junior half of the school, and in particular, performances by the Second Wind Band, the Junior Strings and the Swing Band.

The Winter Recital

Solos and chamber music from our senior musicians.

Celebrity Recital - Sir Willard White

Thursday, 7th February, 2008, 7.30pm / Queen's Hall
With Neal Thornton (piano) and Richard Bolton (guitar)

One of the world's great bass baritones, famed for his enormous, rich voice and powerful stage presence.  He brings to RGS his "Tribute to Paul Robeson" including Negro spirituals, Russian song, British folk song, classic early jazz songs and even some Gershwin and Kern, including Showboat's unforgettable "Ol' Man River".  Not to be missed!

The RGS Carol Service

Monday, 17th December, 2007, 7.30pm All Saints' Church High Wycombe

A traditional carol service - all welcome (no tickets) - just come! 

School Concert

Thursday 22nd November, 2007, 7.30pm / Queen's Hall

The biggest school concert of the year, with all the large groups performing - 1st and 2nd Wind Bands, Junior and Senior String Orchestras, various choirs, jazz bands and ensembles.

RGS Friends of Music Event

Thursday 8th November, 2007, 7.30pm / Queen's Hall

Gospel singing workshop and concert with Scott Stroman from the Guildhall School of Music, plus his choir Eclectic Voices. Scott will lead a workshop in which all may participate - no music-reading required, just a willingness to sing! In the second half of the evening, Eclectic Voices will perform a short concert of gospel and other choral pieces - not to be missed! Tickets £7.50/£5 concs.

School Autumn Recital

Wednesday 17th October, 2007, 7.30pm / Queen's Hall

A recital largely featuring the upper and lower sixth form performers, with contributions from the new Yr 7 trebles and the RGS 'cello ensemble.

RGS Friends of Music Jazz Evening and AGM

Wednesday 3rd October, 2007, 7.30pm / Queen's Hall

A fun evening for all with a variety of Jazz ensembles. Teachers and pupils will be performing! The RGS Friends of Music AGM will be held during the interval.
