Match Report U12 vs Warwick
RGS UNDER 12’s 3 wins in 3 consecutive Saturdays !...from FRORGS
A team 0 – 26 win! B team 0 – 47 win! C team 0 – 27 win!
24th November 2007
On a freezing match day we travelled to Warwick School and all 3 teams won with no points scored against us!
RGS ‘A’ team
Congratulations to the A team who continue their unbeaten run with another victory. Warwick proved to be the sternest opposition todate with a large forward pack who proved to be strong maulers. In the early encounters Warwick had the upper hand recycling the ball within their forwards. Only resolute defence from RGS prevented Warwick making any head way. RGS then reverted to their strength by creating fast ruck ball providing time and space for the speedy backs. In the first half, RGS created 3 clear chances out wide but were unable to finish due to uncharacteristic handling and decision making errors. As half time approached and after a period of sustained pressure, RGS broke the deadlock with Jack and then Ciaran scoring giving RGS 12 clear points.
The 2nd half saw more clashes between the forward packs, however RGS began to take control of the game scoring a further 2 tries following some excellent inter passing between forwards and backs resulting in touch downs for Charlie and Jake.
Tries were scored by Jack Statham, Ciaran McGuire, Charlie Beard, and Jake Banton. Ben Wood and Jake Banton had successful conversions.
Mr Woolliams Head Coach said "I was disappointed with parts of the performance. If we were more clinical, we could have killed the game off by half time. However, after withstanding some early pressure in the second half with some excellent defence, we were able to take control and add a couple more tries. Jack Statham was man of the match with some excellent tackling, handling and support play”
RGS ‘B’ team
RGS started the game as they meant to go on. They recycled possession well and were rewarded with an early try by Rory O’Callaghan. The pressure and possession were soon converted into points after a strong blind side break by Denis Magee gained good ground towards the Warwick try line and set the backs up for an excellent finish by Harry Sepedy. This put Harry in the scoring mood and he duly went over the line again with some determined and strong running by both Harry and Lewis. The pattern of the first half was very much set with RGS rucking and recycling ball very effectively. Paddy Harlow used his size and strength to drive over the line for an excellent individual try after 17 minutes.Harry completed his hat trick and Callum Cooper converted all of the first half tries.Warwick rarely looked like threatening the RGS try line and Denis Magee went over for a try after another strong blind side run. When Callum Cooper again exploited the weak Warwick blind side to score again, the referee called apremature end to an impressive display by RGS.
Tries:- Harry Sepedy 3, Rory O’Callaghan 1, Paddy 1, Denis Magee 1, Callum Cooper 1. Conversions:- Callum Cooper 6
RGS ‘C’ team
Play was good on both sides and despite the fluent passing of the Warwick back line, Jonty went over for the first try of the day taking RGS into a five point lead. Before long Will Jewell scored a second try and with Jontyconverting took the lead to twelve points. Keen competitive play characterised both teams and a period of sustained pressure from RGS saw Tom Poulton score in the corner taking the score to an impressive 17-0.The second half saw Greg Speakman fight his way to the line and with a splendid try took the score to 22-0 and in the last period of the match, Alex Horn scored a try taking the final score to a well deserved 27-0 victory for RGS.
