Chaplaincy
Mr Toller and Mr Potter with guest speaker Vijay MenonWe as School Chaplains endeavour to take a leading role in the spiritual and moral development of the pupils. The Chaplaincy exists to teach the Christian Faith to boys of all ages. Mr Toller, the School Chaplain, is assisted by Mr Potter and several other members of staff. We are available to any members of the school community who wish to speak to us – either as individuals or as groups.
We organise a number of activities for the students at RGS. Each term, over sixty sixth-formers enjoy the opportunity of dining at Pembroke College, Oxford and hearing a thought provoking after dinner speaker. Groups of sixth form boys are invited to an informal supper with the Chaplains on a regular basis. The supper is followed by a talk and discussion about the Christian Faith.
RGS Students at an Oxford Dinner
Recently we have developed our work in the school with the help of a Christian Leadership Team (CLT). This is a group of about twenty senior students who help run the ‘Heatseeker’ meetings in the Junior school. We meet once a fortnight on Wednesday breaktime in the conference room. Along with the valuable support of Mr Booth, Mr James and Mr Machacek, this has enabled us to run a Christian meeting for each year group.
We retain good links with a large number of old boys and are very pleased to be supported by a group of parents who regularly pray for all aspects of the school.
