P.E. Curriculum

PE at RGS
The department is committed to providing inclusive, challenging and enriching Physical education, which promotes high standards of performance and a positive attitude towards sport and physical activity for life.
The Curriculum
The PE Curriculum attempts to meet the needs of all students in the school, through a variety of physical and sports activities. In doing so it also meets the obligatory requirements laid down in the National Curriculum.
The Aims of the Curriculum / Department
- To help every student realise his potential through physical activity. To promote the acquisition of skills.
- To gain knowledge and understanding of the structure and functioning of the body; the value of regular exercise and its effects upon the body; regular assessment of physical fitness.
- To develop personal and social awareness particularly through team games.
- To encourage a lifelong habit of regular exercise and sporting participation.
Physical Education and Games are compulsory up until Year 13
Facilities
R.G.S enjoys a fantastic quality of facilities, with an indoor swimming pool, a large sports hall with indoor cricket nets and indoor hockey capabilities, a well equiped gym, an all weather surface, three tennis courts, five quality rugby pitches, a climbing wall, two purpose built fives courts and a fantastic cricket pavilion, well equiped for both rugby and cricket use.
