Sixth Form Admissions

Entry to boarding in the sixth form is restricted and places will be offered based on GCSE performance and interviews with the Head of Sixth Form and Head of Boarding

The minimum entry requirements are seven GCSE passes of grade C or better (which must include English Language and Mathematics) and four of the passes must be at least B grades. Grade B at Higher Tier is the minimum expected at GCSE in subjects that a candidate wishes to study for A level, and in Modern Languages a grade A is required.

Applications can be made at any time by completion of the Sixth Form Application form. Applicants will then be invited to meet with the Head of Sixth Form to discuss subject choice.

CSE mock results should be communicated to the Royal Grammar School when known and a reference will be requested from the student’s current school during the Summer term preceding the September admission. Places will be offered on the basis of the student reaching the entry standard when the GCSE examination results are confirmed in August.

Parents will have the right of appeal to the Governors Appeal Committee at the Royal Grammar School if their son is deemed not to have reached the entry standard as stated above. Details will be supplied when you are notified of the outcome.
