Army
Practical LessonsThe Army Section at RGSHW CCF is the oldest part of the Contingent having been formed in 1948 when the OTC unit (founded in 1908) at the school became part of the CCF. The RGSHW CCF Army section was parented by the Royal Green Jackets Regiment up until February 2007 when this unit became part of the Rifles, the British Army's elite Rifle Regiment. We now enjoy links with the 7th Batallion Rifles.
The Army cadet syllabus is divided into two main parts, APC Basic and APC Advanced. Each APC syllabus takes approximately one academic year to complete and is supplemented by adventure training. After this cadets are expected to progress onto insructional duties via an internal 8 week Method of Instruction (MOI) and Leadership course run by unit Officers or the Frimley Park Cadet Leadership Course. In Year 12 Cadet NCOs are also expected to complete their BTEC in Public Service, a qualification equivilent to 4 A-C GCSE grades and highly valued as an indication of student potential by all leading UK Universities.
