Headmaster's Welcome
Dear Parents
Headmaster - MR R M Page
Congratulations to you and your son on joining the Royal Grammar School. We are looking forward to meeting your son and to forming a two-way partnership with you as parents. We very much value your involvement in your son’s education and I can assure you that you and your son will be given a warm welcome in September.
I am sure that you have given careful consideration to this important step in your son’s development. You will have already learnt that the RGS is considered to be one of the top state schools in the country. Everyone at RGS is immensely proud of this, the staff, parents and, most importantly, the boys. We will expect your son to achieve his full potential, not only in the classroom, but in all the activities that he will be encouraged to become involved in. Your support in these aims is crucial and I look forward to meeting you at many future occasions.
We pride ourselves in looking after each our of pupils as individuals and we have established a system of form tutors, heads of year and senior staff to support you and your son during his time at the Royal Grammar School. If you have any concerns, please do communicate with your son’s form tutor as this can be important in preventing any problems becoming a crisis. Communication by telephone is welcome, but also by email. It is my intention to communicate with you on a regular basis through newsletters using email.
On Tuesday 1 July, your son will spend the day at RGS. We have a series of activities already planned for him with the clear intention of making him feel welcome and secure. We also look forward to meeting you on the evening of Thursday 3 July.
The Royal Grammar School prides itself on being a warm, friendly school where all young men feel safe and secure whilst enjoying a first class education. I hope your son will really enjoy his time with us and I hope the website will help you with some of your questions and concerns. By the time your son leaves RGS in 2015, the world will have changed a great deal. With your support, I am confident we can give your son the best possible start in facing the challenges ahead of him.
Yours sincerely
Roy Page
