In April of this year, twenty two students from the RGS visited Madrid for five days to learn about the life and culture in Spain, as well as to visit many popular sites, and, of course, practice our Spanish.

On the first day, we woke up very early in order to catch the bus for Heathrow. Then, once we had arrived at the airport in Madrid, we went to the shopping centre in the centre of the city, where we met up with our families, who we were going to stay with for these four nights. After that, we visited The ‘Museo Del Prado,’ an art gallery in the centre of Madrid, before returning to our families’ homes for the night.

The next day, we visited the ‘Museo Nacional Reina Sofia,’ another art gallery that is extremely famous for having the ‘Guernica,’ a painting by Picasso. In a nearby park, the ‘Parque el Retiro’, we ate our lunches and played a bit of football, before going to the Bernabeu stadium, home of the most famous football club in the world – Real Madrid.
On Friday, we went to the Warner Brothers theme park for the whole day, and on Saturday morning, we saw a 3D film about sharks in the Imax cinema. Finally, we visited the Royal Palace in which the King of Spain lives with his family.

Sunday was the last day, and, after packing our backs and saying goodbye to the families, we left for the airport. The whole trip was very enjoyable, and the weather was perfect every day we were there. Personally, I would recommend this trip to anyone studying Spanish, as it is an experience like nothing you will ever do again.
