JOSH RADVAN IN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

CLOSE

Wednesday, 19 May 2010

Josh Radvan has just returned from competing in the Youth A (Under 19) European Championships for Modern Pentathlon.

Held in Varna, Bulgaria the event hosted athletes from 21 countries competing in four of the Pentathlon disciplines; Fencing, Swimming and Combined (Run and Shoot).

Josh competed first in the men’s individual event.  He started with the fence where he produced his best international result of 9th place.

In the swim, although his time was down on his personal targets, it was still good enough to move him up to 7th place overall.

The combined event saw Josh produce one of his better shooting displays, which together with his customary strong run brought him home overall in 13th place from 54 athletes in total.

This represented the best position of the four GB athletes and was also third amongst the Western European athletes.

The team relay event consists of three athletes combining their scores of the same events.

Once again Josh fenced well and thanks to an excellent swim from all the team they found themselves in 2nd place going into the combined.

They were not able to hold this position against such strong competition but ended in 5th place overall, from the 21 teams.

While he was away Josh was also the recipient of the Chiltern District Male Athlete award for 15 to 21 year olds.

His next targets are the Youth A World Championships to be held in Sweden in June and the World Biathle Championships in Dubai in September.
