SWIMATHON FOR MARIE CURIE CANCER CARE

CLOSE

Saturday, 17 Apr 2010

On Saturday morning 12 RGS pupils and one teacher participated in the national swimathon, raising funds for the Marie Curie Cancer Care fund, as well as for their Biological Challenge trip to Belize next Easter.
Every boy either achieved or exceeded their personal target of lengths to swim, reaching an outstanding total of 1478 lengths in 2.5 hours, (equalling over 22 miles).

Next Easter in Belize the boys will have a chance to explore the ecology of the tropical forests and the 2nd longest coral reef in the world. They will learn in the most amazing outdoor classroom, about the delicate relationships that exist between the plants and animals of this region, as well as the conservation efforts that local people are involved in to protect this precious environment. The boys will have opportunities to support local conservation efforts and will be challenging themselves both mentally and physically on this "trip of a lifetime".

Their are two more places available on this trip. Any current year 11 or 12 student interested in joining, should see Mr Wolton ASAP.
