The third annual visit to Brunel University offered 31 Year 9 boys a unique opportunity to glimpse at a full range of diverse and exciting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) related careers as well as gaining an insight into campus life from a student’s point of view.
After a tour around the campus which included viewing the largest indoor running track in Europe where Olympic athletes were in training, the boys enjoyed a buffet lunch. This was followed by a presentation by a student ambassador on campus life and a welcome by the university’s director, Mr Andrew Kershaw, which gave the boys an early taster of things to come.
The tour included a visit to a F1 motor sports workshop where some of the current students were building their own racing car, a CGI ‘green screen’ film studio, a flight simulator in which some of the boys took turns as pilot and finally a look at the history of code breaking in which the boys tried to break an imaginary code.
