A new group of TAA Eco Army boys from Years 10 and 11 spent their first afternoon of 2012 in the vegetable garden on Thursday.
The weather this term has meant that all sessions last half term were spent planning and preparing for the year, but luckily an unseasonably mild Thursday this week meant we could finally get outside and start some early planting. We had received three rhubarb crowns from Mr Willmot which we planted in the back of the vegetable plot.
A kilo of seed potatoes had been chitting for two weeks ready for an early planting this week. We planted them in some potato grow bags and placed them in the greenhouse so as to avoid the effects of any more frosty weather.
When the weather is a bit milder over the next couple of weeks we are looking forward to planting some more in some deep raised beds.
Next week we hope to start off some seedlings and maybe plant some more beans and peas! Exciting times!
