On Thursday (16 September) the RGS hosted members of the Eton Fives Association as well as the Mayor of High Wycombe at a ceremony to re-open the Fives Courts erected in memory of the Old Boys and Masters who fell in the Great War of 1914—1918.

The Chairman and soon-to-be President of the Eton Fives Association (EFA), Richard Barber OBE, officially re-opened the courts following generous assistance from the EFA which has enabled RGS to renovate the courts after they unfortunately fell into a dismal state during recent years.
The occasion included an exhibition Fives match between four players, including a current pupil of the school.
It is intended that members of the community will be able to hire the courts outside of school-hours.further information can be obtained from the school’s Commercial Administrator.
The Eton Fives Association has forty affiliated schools and whilst the sport is commonly played in Independent Schools it is not widely played in State Schools; furthermore, new courts are seldom built making the renovation of the RGS courts a rather momentous occasion.
