Learning about the world through music and art and learning to work with the language of music and art were themes at the heart of this year’s One World Arts Project.
On Monday 5th July Year 7 pupils from RGS and Yr6 pupils from Highworth school discovered just how international art is when they came together to create a map of the world depicting the human image of people of the world in sculptural form.
RGS is a Language College and the project has helped to develop the pupils’ cultural and international awareness through the medium of Art and Sculpture. Some pupils also studied tribal music in their music lessons and this topic culminated in a West Afirican drumming workshop. The pupils learnt the importance of concentrating and imitating sounds and rhythms in the drumming workshop and sculpture techniques in the art workshop.
