"I have pleasure in announcing this year's results in the British Physics Olympiad.
James Forsyth & Tom Crawley both gained Silver Awards, which puts them in the top 200 physics students in the country.
Andrew Smith gained a 1st Class Bronze award, while Tom Brewster, James Hart, Cameron Fitzgibbon, Bill Wright and Ashwin Aggarwal all gained 2nd Class Bronze awards. James' result is particularly commendable given that he is still in Year 12.
Bronze awards correspond roughly to the best 500 students in the country. For comparison, there are roughly 33000 students studying A-level physics in the UK, so all taking part are to be congratulated on a superb achievement, particularly given the gruelling nature of the questions which require the application of concepts in novel situations, and extensive use of mathematical reasoning well beyond that required by A-level."
