On Monday 21 November 2011, a mix of Old Boys and current pupils arrived at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge for the RGS Cambridge Dinner, which was revived this year in order to celebrate the dinner’s 50th Anniversary. Old Boys in attendance ranged from those currently studying at the University to those who remember the School during Mr Tucker and Mr Morgan’s ‘rule’.
Conversations of life post-RGS, reminiscences of old teachers and practices filled the Old Common Room before dinner. An OW and RGS Music teacher, Mr Stephen Armstrong, read his college’s Grace (Queen’s) before a fine meal of Butternut Squash soup, Supreme of Guinea Fowl and Brandysnap Baskets with Ice Cream.
Current RGS pupils quizzed OWs on life and studies at the University over Port and coffee before a long drive through the foggy countryside back to Wycombe, courtesy of Mr Shreeve, Minibus Driver Extraordinaire.
We are putting together a regional programme of alumni dinners in University towns over the coming months. If you would like to assist in suggesting a University town to visit, do get in touch!
