Friday the 1st October is the annual Jeans for Genes fundraising day, and the RGS is once again taking part in this worthwhile charity event. On Friday boys and staff are invited to wear their jeans and pay a pound in support of the Jeans for Genes charity.
In assembly this week we've heard about the work of the charity from Mr Wolton, with moving case studies from children who suffer from genetic conditions. On Wednesday in assembly boys were encouraged to donate generously to the week's benevolent fund with a rousing performance from the "RGS Jeans for Genes Band" , who performed a rendition of "Don't stop believing", orginally by the band "Journey" and recently covered by "Glee". They were energetically supported by the boys in the Stage Lighting and Sound Team who put their gear through its paces.
On Wednesday boys and staff raised £345 in Benevolent fund, and then on Friday donated £1355 to the Jeans for Genes charity.
We are pleased to bring you a video of the Jeans for Genes band assembly performance, and some photos too!

On Sunday 3rd October Mr Wolton ran in the 10km Cancer Research UK run at Hamton Court, raising money for the Bobby Moore Fund, which supports research into bowel cancer. £400 from benevolent fund has been contributed to this cause. Evidence of Mr Wolton's efforts can be seen below:
