About the PA

  • Headmaster's Welcome Open or Close

    Dear Parents

The RGS PA is a great organisation!  We really value the support of our parents in so many ways – whether it is the partnership in learning, your presence at events or helping with fundraising.  The PA, led by a hard working committee, organises a range of events throughout the year to suit all tastes and budgets.  The events are an opportunity to meet other parents in a social setting, but also enable us to enrich the education of our boys.

Over the years, the RGS PA has provided so many enhancements that it would be impossible to list here.  However, what they have achieved is solely for the benefit of the boys.  Recent improvements include the outdoor eating area which has proved extremely popular at breaks and lunchtimes, as well as donating £10,000 to the ‘learning wall’ in one of the classrooms. An ongoing project is the maintenance and updating of the school mini buses which are used by most boys at some point during their time at the school.

All parents are automatically members of the PA so there is no more to do to join!  I do hope that you will join me in supporting their events throughout the year, offering to help when you can and raising funds to make RGS even better.

  • Chairman's Welcome Open or Close

Royal Grammar School Parents Association (RGSPA) would like to extend a warm welcome to all parents.  As a parent of a boy at the RGS you are automatically a member of the RGSPA.

The RGSPA is an integral part of the school’s fabric in supporting and fostering a school community. RGSPA hosts a varied programme of events throughout the school year for both the parents and the boys. These events provide an opportunity for parents and boys to socialise, have fun and at the same time help raise much needed funds to support the school.

The funds raised by RGSPA help to support extracurricular activities that benefit all the boys. In the recent past, we have funded projects such as the outdoor covered eating area; curtains for the school stage and a ‘learning wall’ in one of the newly refurbished classrooms. Additionally, RGSPA funds support ongoing activities within the school such as maintaining two minibuses; donating to Prize Giving; providing celebratory drinks at the Christmas Carol service and food for all boys helping on open evenings.

We hope that you will get involved at events such as quiz nights; disco’s for Year 7 & Year 8’s, seasonal fayres, parents social evenings, theatre trips and coffee morning for new parents to the school, to name but a few!

It would be wonderful if you could volunteer to help out at one of the many events we organise, or join the committee or simply support us by coming along to the events. By getting involved you will be contributing to the school, helping raise funds that benefit all boys and enhancing our school community. We would also like to hear from you if you have any ideas for future events. You can contact us on rgspa@hotmail.co.uk

I look forward to meeting you at an RGSPA event soon.
